NAKAVU: Creator Monetization Platform
A look at NAKAVU, a full-stack Next.js creator monetization platform built as my engineering diploma project.

Overview
NAKAVU is a full-stack creator monetization platform built as my engineering diploma project.
The idea behind NAKAVU is simple: creators can build their own public profiles and receive financial support directly from their audience through one-time tips and recurring subscriptions.
The platform includes separate experiences for visitors, authenticated users, and creators, with role-based access controlling which features are available to each type of user.

Platform Overview

The landing page introduces NAKAVU and allows users to discover creators and explore the platform's main features.

The interface is fully responsive, with a mobile-friendly navigation menu and support for both light and dark themes.

The user dashboard provides a centralized view of profile settings, tips and subscription history, with support for customizable profile picture and cover.

Users can become creators through the onboarding flow. After accepting the platform agreement, they are redirected to Stripe onboarding to securely connect their account and start receiving payments.

Each creator has a public profile with a customizable banner, avatar, social links, bio, posts, and recent activity. Visitors can support the creator through one-time tips or subscriptions.
Monetization
One-time Tips

Users can send a custom amount to a creator together with an optional personal message.

Payments are processed through Stripe Checkout, supporting cards and digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. After checkout, users are redirected back to NAKAVU with the payment status.
Subscriptions

Users can choose a subscription tier, predefined by a creator.

Subscriptions use Stripe's recurring billing system. When additional authentication is required, Stripe handles the 3D Secure flow before the subscription is activated.
Tools

NAKAVU sends transactional emails to supporters and creators after successful payments.

Creator profiles include an activity feed showing recent tips and new subscriber activity.

Skeleton loaders are displayed while tip and subscription data is being fetched, helping prevent layout shifts and providing clearer loading states.

Creators can create, edit, and remove up to three subscription tiers directly from their dashboard.

The statistics dashboard provides insights into earnings, top supporters, subscriber growth, and recent activity.
Technical Highlights
Stripe Webhooks

Stripe webhook events are processed by the backend to keep payment and subscription data synchronized with the database.
Webhook processing also triggers related actions, such as updating payment records and sending email notifications.
SEO & Open Graph

The application includes dynamic metadata, robots.txt, sitemaps, and Open Graph and Twitter metadata for improved search visibility and social media previews.
Architecture

The application separates functionality based on user state and permissions. Guests can access public content and tip creators. Authenticated users can access their dashboard, view their support history, and subscribe to creators. Creators receive additional tools for managing subscription tiers, viewing statistics, generating QR codes, and publishing posts.
